DRAMATIC ADVENTURE THEATRE: the ZIMBABWE project

	In 2007 we teamed up with Forgotten Voices International, a non-profit organization that is doing great work in the region, empowering children who are victims of AIDS. Our team of professional theatre makers developed short pieces with many of these young people all across the country of Zimbabwe. Then we stitched these shorts together to create a full length play entitled, "Voices from Zimbabwe," which has already performed in several select cities across the North East of the United States.
	Over the course of a month (June, 2010), 1 US based playwright and 2 Zimbabwean playwrights will journey across Zimbabwe leading playwriting workshops in various communities across the country. During this time, each playwright will write one act. Each act focusing in on one great and specific "act". (i.e. an act of devotion, an act of bravery, an act of dispair, etc.). These three pieces will then be performed together for a workshop performance on July 28th, 2011 (just four weeks after DAT returns from Zimbabwe). Following the performance will be a wine reception fundraising event. The reception will include a Q&A, slideshows, videos, information on our upcoming projects in Zimbabwe, and more. 	Also in the summer of 2011, we will lay the initial groundwork for the Bulawayo Young Company. A theatre company and conservatory which will be based in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and comprised of young talented theatre artists (mostly teenagers). We will work in collaboration with Amakhosi Theatre to mold these talented young people into skilled theatre makers through professional caliber workshops, rehearsals, and performances. 	And if all goes to plan, in the fall of 2011 Dramatic Adventure Theatre will take the Bulawayo Young Company to perform "III acts" at HIFA and with any luck in NYC as well. Our US based team will also perform, both in NYC and HIFA, in III acts or a seperate piece that is still yet to be determined.
