Christen first began working with DAT as a Teaching Host in Quilotoa, Ecuador during ACTion: Ecuador 2009. She is now DAT's Director of Education. In 2010, she served as the dramaturg for Prayer of the Condor, a piece by Jason Williamson that DAT presented in the Kennedy Center's Page to Stage Festival. Christen holds a B.A. in English with minors in Sociology and Gender Studies from Wagner College and an M.A. in English from Seton Hall University where she now teaches writing and literature. There, she serves as the advisor for Script-as-Lit, a campus-wide play-reading series. She also teaches "Art and Culture in Public Service" at Rutgers University. She is a performance reviewer for The Shakespeare Bulletin, an academic journal published quarterly by John Hopkins University Press and she has studied theatre at The New Actor’s Workshop, HB Studios, and Wagner College training in areas such as performance theory, script analysis, Shakespeare, improv, movement, speech, and classical voice. Recent New York theatre credits include The Mad Hatter in the Off-Broadway Alice in Wonderland at the Actor's Temple Theatre, Rena in The Maderati, Helen of Troy in Doctor Faustus, Satyr in Euripides’ The Cyclops, Cleonike in Phare Play's Lysistrata and Pirate Penny in various shows with the Maritime Pirates at the South Street Seaport Museum. She has loved working with WinceyCo Entertainment traveling the NY and NJ area on their educational musical tour. Through WinseyCo, she was also a featured soloist at the Tiffany & Co. Wall Street Christmas Concert. In addition to her work with DAT, Christen is a member of Haberdasher Theatre Company Inc., a non-profit theatre company in NYC.
