I grew up in Berlin, Germany (yes, am still fluent in German) went to university in France (no, my French is pretty rusty now...) and came to NYC in 2000 (working on my English everyday - wink!). In my 9 years here, I have studied at Lee Strasberg and The Harlem Theatre Co. and had residencies at the 13th Street Rep and NYU's First Look Theatre Co. I took 3.5 years off to work and travel and that time was invaluable. I went to Brazil, Kenya, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Dubai, Ghana, Togo, India, Nepal...it taught me so much about who I am (as opposed to who I thought I was), and about how we humans are. I'm always reminded of a line from Ernesto "Che" Guevara's Motorcycle Diaries in which he says (paraphrase) "...there is one commonality in the human experience: injustice." I've made the same observation and just when I think it's hopeless, I am overwhelmed by the incredible resilience of the human spirit. It awes me and challenges me to stand up in every sense possible. I believe, that we, as actors, have the powerful skill of empathy and we're called to use it.

Here's what happening personally and professionally in my life right now:
- acting in a Hudson Shakespeare Company production of Julius Caesar which will tour New Jersey high schools.
- getting certified as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) to represent abused and neglected children in court proceedings.
- studying samba dance at Alvin Ailey
- reading poetry of the Mexican "visceral realism" movement
- s-l-o-w-l-y writing a one-woman-show that may never get finished...
