Jessica grew up in Cincinnati Ohio, and is currently living in Boulder, Colorado where she is a student at Naropa University, working on a BFA in Performance. Jessica loves Naropa, and she loves what she is learning. She works in a tight ensemble with 8 other students, who call themselves “Metamundo.” Last spring, they co-wrote and choreographed a dance/theater piece called “Created from the Heart,” in collaboration with Peggy Peggit, an artist from New York City. Metamundo is currently working on a dance piece called “Within Us,” collaborating with Afro-Modern Dancer Onye Ozuzu, which they will perform at the beginning of May. Metamundo will also be performing a piece called "Paints Everywhere" in the Boulder Fringe Festival in August. Jessica loves to sing. She plays guitar and piano, and sometimes sings at open mics around town. Jessica transferred to Naropa University in August of 2007 from Kenyon College, where she was a Dance and Spanish major. Between Kenyon and Naropa, Jessica attended massage school in Florida, and she currently practices as a Licensed Massage Therapist. She also lived in an ashram in New York where she got certified with the Yoga Alliance as a yoga instructor, and hiked 500 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Jessica has traveled to many parts of Central and South America, and Europe. She speaks fluent Spanish and French. She has taught Spanish to both children and adults for the past 5 years. Jessica is very interested in the current issues going on with Latinos in the United States. She is currently working on a project for her Civic Engagement class, which will help find ways to bridge the gap between Latinos and other Americans. Jessica hopes to integrate what she is learning about Latino issues in Boulder into what she learns and discovers in Ecuador.
