France–Luce Benson is currently working on her M.F.A. in Playwriting at Carnegie Mellon University’s prestigious School of Drama and holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree (Major in Theatre, Minor in Dance) from Florida International University. Upon her graduation from F.I.U., Ms. Benson founded and served as the Artistic Director of Adunde Theatre Company in Miami, FL. A noted playwright, her plays have been performed throughout New York City and Miami Florida. Most recently, her play Noplace, Somewhere was produced at the Bricolage Urban Scrawl in Pittsburgh. Ms. Benson has also continued to reach out to her community using her theatrical talents. She served as a Teaching Artist for Manhattan Theatre Club’s “Write on the Edge” Program, where she worked with juvenile detainees at Riker’s Island Prison. She recently conducted a dance workshop for Girl’s Hope of Pittsburgh (which provides artistic enrichment to under privileged teenage girls), and has conducted Drama Workshops for “at-risk” youths at the Paul Robeson Theatre in Brooklyn, and the Beacon Center in Manhattan.
