Elizabeth Irwin is a playwright, actor and teacher, originally hailing from Massachusetts. She studied English at Amherst College and then received her M.Ed. from Harvard. As a teacher she has worked with all grade levels in a variety of capacities --- everything from teaching high school English in Boston to summer enrichment in Chinatown to an after school in the Bronx to ESOL adults one on one. She is also a graduate of the William Esper Studio. As an actor she is mostly in love with the stage (brief affairs have been known to happen with TV and film, though) and has performed extensively in New York, most recently at the Monkey Studio and the Duplex Cabaret Theater. Some of her most rewarding stagework has been performing her own plays, two of which have enjoyed their premiere at the Workshop Theater (Learn Me My Need and For Risk of Safety). Elizabeth believes very much in the power of community and exchange. She has been blessed with a number of outstanding mentors and seeks to pay that forward with her community service work, most recently as a volunteer SAT tutor for underserved NYC students. She is looking forward to putting her love for travel (recent trips include Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic), community service and the arts together this summer in Ecuador. |
